Welcome to my ePortfolio
Welcome to my ePortfolio. My name is Don Carlin and I am the Educational Computer Strategist and web master at Walter Bracken STEAM Academy, formally Walter Bracken Magnet School.
The image above left is designed to show how I got to be who I am as an educator. My formal technology career began by completing an online graduate degree in educational technology from Northern Arizona University. However my interest in educational technology began in the early 1980’s when I was introduced to the Apple II Plus computer. After using the Apple II Plus and reading helpful hints in the magazine, Nibble, I was soon writing programs to help me as a teacher, including writing a program to keep track of my grades. Additionally, I was using technology to teach my students about computers and computer applications.
As my mother always told me, you are who you associate with. I found myself reading articles, books, talking with other computer users, and attending conferences to learn as much as possible about using and teaching with computers. I've always learned something through my association with other teachers. That's why CCSD's technology conferences are so helpful.
My experiences as a technology student, the application of technology in my personal and professional life, and positive support from colleagues has helped me transition into a technology teacher that helps other teachers and students learn and apply technology.
Thank you for visiting my portfolio. Please E-mail me your comments and suggestions.
