Engaging the Online/Blended Learner Course Artifact
Tables in Microsoft Office Word
I have chosen my Tables in Microsoft Office as my Tier I artifact. Tables are used to organize and present information in an easy-to-read format. However, many teachers have not had the instruction or opportunity to make tables. My artifact consists of a user's guide, rubric , and an instructional video I posted on You Tube. This lesson was taught as part of CTE 629D

This activity was taught entirely online, however the tutorial and video could be used in a flipped classroom. Students would review the material and video at home then construct and modify tables in a lab with teacher assistance.
Given my acquired knowledge and experience, I would not change the tutorial much, but would redo the video to make the sound louder. Either, I would record the audio in a program such as Audacity and add it to the video after editing out pauses and adjusting the volume to make it louder or I would sit closer to the microphone while I was recording the screen cast in Camtasia.
Assignments completed by my students demonstrated their knowledge and skill with creating and modifying tables and converting text to tables and tables to text. I have included a sample of the tables one of my students created and the other activities that accompanied the lesson in my section Student Samples.
