Tier I Classes
Tier I courses are designed to provide the learner with a background of the philosophy of online and blended learning instruction. CCSD offers two Tier I courses, both are required before participants can progress to Tier II courses.
The first course, PDE 3144: Introduction to Online and Blended Learning, provide an overview of online teaching and the blended learning classroom.
"Moving from teaching in a face-to-face environment to teaching student online is not simply a matter of changing mediums; it also means changing instructional methodologies. The second course, PDE 3145: Engaging the Blended and Online Learner, focuses on the differences between online instruction and face-to-face instruction. Emphasis is placed on the personal assets a student needs to be a successful online learner.
"The course will focus on the pedagogy for teaching online versus face-to-face. Topics covered will include identifying the differences in teaching virtually, developing effective communication strategies, developing strategies for engaging the online learner, and creating effective online lessons." For certification, participants are required to take both Tier I classes.
